When 48×40 is right

The existing rack or trailer pattern is already 48×40. Mixed outbound with other standard decks — you are matching a footprint the dock already knows. The load fits without hanging or stacking air.

When custom is cheaper

The part is long, tall, or point-loaded. A 48×40 makes you buy extra board or extra freight. Overbuilding extra lumber is not safer; spec to the load. Fork pattern or stack height is the real constraint. Best Pallet™ is how we check that.
