48×40 Pallets, Built New in West Springfield, MA

48×40 pallets when that size is the right deck

We build 48×40 when the load and the dock actually want that footprint. We do not sell a cheap stock GMA off a cart. New wood, spec’d to the weight. West Springfield, 202 Day St.

When 48×40 is right

The existing rack or trailer pattern is already 48×40. Mixed outbound with other standard decks — you are matching a footprint the dock already knows. The load fits without hanging or stacking air.

When custom is cheaper

The part is long, tall, or point-loaded. A 48×40 makes you buy extra board or extra freight. Overbuilding extra lumber is not safer; spec to the load. Fork pattern or stack height is the real constraint. We check that with computerized load analysis.

Standard 48×40 pallets, built new

The 48×40 is the standard GMA footprint: 48″ stringer length by 40″ deck-board length. It fits most racking, trailers, and grocery and retail docks. We build it two ways. Stringer pallets use three 48″ stringers and are usually 2-way entry, or partial 4-way with notched stringers. They’re the most common, cost-effective choice. Block pallets sit on nine blocks for true 4-way entry. They’re stiffer for heavy, automated, or pallet-jack-heavy floors.

Every 48×40 we build is new wood only, with no used or remanufactured pallets. We chop, resaw, build, and heat treat in our own plant at 202 Day St, West Springfield, MA. Heat-treated ISPM-15 pallets are available for export, with the HT stamp and no fumigation. We size the deck boards, stringers, and fasteners to your load, not to a catalog. Call 413-747-7900 or send your load weight and how it ships for a quote.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a standard 48×40 pallet?

48″ long (stringer direction) by 40″ wide (deck-board direction). It’s the most common pallet footprint in North America, and we build it new to your load.

Stringer or block, which 48×40 do I need?

Stringer is right for most loads and 2-way handling. Block gives true 4-way entry and more stiffness for heavy or automated handling. Tell us the weight and how it moves, and we’ll spec it.

Can you heat treat 48×40 pallets for export?

Yes. We heat treat in house to ISPM-15 and stamp every pallet we heat treat. Put “export” and the destination country on your quote request.
